Gen Z’s ‘Nowstalgia’ for Y2K Fashion is Making a Comeback Baby!

Iconic fashion trends of the early 2000s are all having a resurgence among younger buyers. Celebrities like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Paris Hilton along with onscreen style icons Legally Blonde‘s Elle Woods and Sex and the City‘s Carrie Bradshaw had their fingers on the fashion pulse at the turn of the millennium. It was what was in their closets that served as the gateway to the best Y2K looks. Picture hot pink everything, bedazzled logos, tiny bags, denim on denim, and of course, Juicy Couture!

Here are the Y2K fashion trends making a comeback - and how to shop them for yourself!

Velour Tracksuits

The velour tracksuit is a trademark look of the early 2000s, courtesy of Paris Hilton. While we never thought that velvet track pants and jackets would ever be in our closets again, this past year has resulted in us reaching for those comfy, trendy items.

Denim on Denim

Don’t be afraid to wear all denim these days! You can even pull an old school Britney and JT stunt and put your date in denim too. But looking at this photo, it might be overkill! Haha!

Pleated Mini Skirts

The pleated skirt is a classic that was also big in the mid-90’s thanks in part to Clueless. They’re also from the era when everyone was obsessed with Bratz, and obviously a mini pleated skirt was a must.

Butterfly Hair Clips!

Y2k styles were all about embracing your girly-girl side! Anything pink, fuzzy, glittery, and cutesy goes! These butterfly hair clips are so back in, so have some fun with them!

Baguettes!

The Carrie Bradshaw-inspired baguette handbag is all over nowadays! Carrie (played by Sarah Jessica Parker) is one of my all-time fave fashion icons and I can usually be found rocking one of these bags! (see below for proof haha)
